Puppy grooming in Whitestone, from the very first visit
The first groom teaches a puppy what grooming is for the rest of their life. We make sure the lesson is: warm water, gentle hands, and a big fuss over how gorgeous you look.
A puppy who has a happy first groom becomes a dog who trots into the salon for the next ten years. A puppy who has a scary one can spend those same ten years trembling on the table. That is why we treat first visits as the most important appointment we do. Everything is slower, shorter, and softer: our salon is cage free, so there is no crate and no cage dryer, and your puppy meets everything new, the tub, the dryer, the clippers, one gentle introduction at a time.

First appointments are kept simple so your puppy leaves wanting more. A warm bath, a careful blow dry, nails, ears, and lots of praise. The fancy haircut can come next time.

What new puppy parents want answered
When is a puppy ready for grooming?
Once your veterinarian says the vaccine series has them protected, they are ready for us; for most puppies that is a week or two after the final round of puppy shots, around the four month mark. We keep Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella records on file for every dog, so bring your vaccine paperwork to the first visit or text it to us ahead of time.
Practice at home, five minutes a day
Touch paws, look inside ears, lift the lip like you are checking teeth, and brush for a few gentle minutes, treats flowing the whole time. A puppy who thinks handling is a game makes their first groom look easy, and every groom after that easier.
Start earlier than you think
Waiting until the coat "needs" a haircut means the first visit is also the longest, hardest one. Coming in young, even just for a bath and tidy, builds the habit while everything is still small, wiggly, and easy to praise.
Then keep a rhythm
Most puppies do best visiting every four to six weeks, and coat breeds like doodles need that rhythm to stay ahead of matting as the adult coat comes in between six and twelve months. Regulars book their next visit on the way out; it is the easiest way to keep the streak going.
